ANGELA PRUESS, MA, LMFT Angela's compassionate, laidback and playful qualities allow for a relaxed environment, which can sometimes even be fun! Angela specializes with children, but also sees adult clients. Her patience and understanding aid her in the development of trusting relationships with both children and adults. Angela utilizes a strengths based perspective and partners with families to facilitate healthy development and healing.
Angela specializes in play therapy, as well as parent-child interaction therapy. Play therapy uses play with clients, which is the child's natural medium of communication, to achieve healing and problem solving. Children live in a stressful world. Typically, parents don't receive guidebooks on how to navigate through these stressors! Sometimes outside support is needed in order to provide the healing and recovery necessary to move forward. Angela will work together with her clients to determine how they can best reach their goals.
Her training is in Family Systems Theory, which asserts that we are shaped by the dynamics and actions of systems around us, such as our families and communities. She also uses an attachment theory framework, which looks at the relationships we had early in our lives and how they've impacted who we've become. She feels fortunate to be able to work with so many wonderful children and families, and loves to discover the unique resiliencies that lie within each of them.
