Practices in Oak Creek

John is a person-oriented mental health therapist based in Milwaukee, WI. John is a firm believer that talking through problems in a safe, non-judgmental environment can yield years of healing and improved well-being if all involved are intent on the same goal and willing to work hard. John is no stranger to the pain and self-doubt that can come along with mental illness and he utilizes his experience to engage each client with compassion, warmth, and understanding.

John will meet you wherever you are in your experience of life, drawing on knowledge gained from his history of interning in community mental health at a free health clinic, working in health social work at a small agency, and providing substance abuse counseling, for both groups and individuals, in a partial hospital program setting. John specializes in person-oriented and systems approaches to therapy, utilizing, among others, Humanist, Mindfulness, Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment, Cognitive Behavioral, Gestalt, Solution-Focused, and Motivational Interviewing therapies to help each person reach their mental wellness goals. Equity and acceptance are top priorities for John when applying noted therapies to any situation or person, with a special focus on helping people of all genders, sexualities, races, ethnicities, and minority groups feel safe and welcomed into therapy.

John is always learning new techniques and guiding principles-don’t hesitate to ask about other modalities and John will happily research and, when appropriate, apply new therapy modalities to the problem at hand.
