Julia Fechter

“See the light in others and treat them as if that’s all you see.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

This quote by the late Dr. Dyer is a major guiding principle of Julia’s clinical practice. Julia maintains a person-centered foundation in her approach to therapy. She is curious about her clients, regards her clients as experts of their individual experiences, and sees each person as capable and worthy of growth. Julia is often in awe of the strength and perseverance each person possesses and is passionate about supporting her clients in recognizing and harnessing their personal power to bring about change and growth.

Julia meets her clients where they are at when they initiate counseling with warm acceptance. Julia emphasizes forming partnerships with her clients in which treatment goals are collaboratively identified and a variety of strategies are utilized to achieve these goals in a timely manner. Julia aims to provide a safe space in which her clients can feel comfortable being vulnerable, expanding their perspectives, or trying something new.

Julia utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy to meet her client’s specific needs and address a variety of life circumstances. Julia’s primary expertise lies in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders (e.g., panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, phobias, and social anxiety).

Julia is a licensed school counselor and is currently a professional counseling graduate student at Concordia University Wisconsin. She is looking forward to graduating within the upcoming months.
