Owner of Consamus Counseling Services, LLC

Jamie Consamus, MS, LPC
Practices in Waukesha and Menomonee Falls

My primary goal when working with clients is to create a safe environment in which the client feels accepted unconditionally, and feels comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings. What motivates me in my work more than anything else is the potential to offer clients the opportunity to feel seen, understood, and valued, especially when they’re feeling alone. I know making the decision to seek professional help can be a difficult, oftentimes scary one, so I always strive to meet clients where they’re at in their journey. When it comes to working with clients in therapy, I am a firm believer in the power of the therapeutic relationship. With this in mind, I consider the relationship to be a partnership, in which the client is able to play an active role in making decisions about their own treatment. I also believe that all of my clients already possess the capacities necessary for growth, they just might need a little help to recognize and learn how to draw upon their personal strengths.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, warm, and empathetic, and I often try to incorporate a sense of humor into the process. I typically utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when working with clients. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I view these treatment modalities as crucial in helping clients examine the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; improve communication and coping skills; and overcome any negative core beliefs stemming from traumatic memories. I always strive to tailor my treatment plans to fit the needs of each individual client, as I know therapy is not a one-size-fits-all.

I received my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Marquette University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Although I have experience providing therapy for a wide variety of concerns, my specialties are:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Adolescent behavioral and emotional concerns
  • Behavior modification
  • Self-esteem
  • Trauma

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to set up an initial appointment. I would be honored to join you in your journey of self-discovery and self-growth!
