Owner of Lucero Counseling Services, LLC
Michelle Montalvo, MS, LPC-IT
I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor in Training (LPC-IT) and received my Clinical Mental Health master’s degree at Marquette University. My approach to therapy is one of empathy, compassion, and collaboration. I aim to provide a non-judgmental and safe space in which clients feel accepted unconditionally. I am highly motivated to help you with any issues arising in your life using individualized evidence-based therapies. My preference is cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy; however, I am trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques that can be implemented based on individual needs.
My therapeutic approach also leans towards a person-centered strengths-based approach.
I have gained clinical experience in working in an inpatient and outpatient hospital setting, working in group sessions, and meeting with clients one-on-one. My experience in groups includes working in process, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and art therapy groups. My primary goal in sessions is to help clients feel understood, listened to, and form a strong therapeutic relationship with clients. In doing so, I hope to help empower clients and help them gain more confidence in facing whatever challenges are arising for them.
