Ayan Qureshi, Graduate Certificate Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MS, LPC-IT
Practices in Oak Creek

I have a MS in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and approximately five years of experience working as a mental health counselor in Pakistan. After moving to the US, I completed a Post-Master’s Graduate Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mount Mary University and attained my license.

As an individual who has experienced different cultures and backgrounds, I bring diversity and a unique perspective to my work. Also, as a Muslim woman pursuing a career in mental health counseling, I am passionate about helping individuals who may be facing unique challenges due to cultural or religious factors. I believe that my background and understanding of diverse cultural contexts helps me connect with clients and provide culturally sensitive care. I am also bilingual (Urdu, Hindi and English).

My experience, so far, has taught me that trauma itself and early relationship patterns guide how we think and behave in the present. For this reason, trauma informed care and focus on attachment patterns has become an integral part of my practice. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to understand what they want out of the therapeutic process. My therapeutic style is direct and pragmatic, however, I can adapt it to fit client needs.

I worked with a diverse range of clients and developed expertise in providing counseling for depression, anxiety, trauma, multigenerational trauma, multicultural and general adjustment issues, relationship challenges, and career counseling. I am skilled in providing evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Specialties include:

  • Adolescent and Adult Therapy (16 years and above)
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression and other mood disorders
  • Trauma, Multigenerational Trauma, PTSD, Attachment Trauma with EMDR
  • Adjustment related to general issues, multicultural factors, life after divorce
  • Self-esteem
  • Communication and boundary issues with cultural sensitivity
  • Career Counseling
  • Bilingual Urdu, Hindi, English
